things i would like #1

1. Last year H&M had a similar coloured camel coat and I was constantly on the look out for it but I never found it. This coat from Topshop is just wonderful but at £89 I don't think I could splurge out on it. Tom convinced me to try it on last time we were shopping and it only made me love it even more.

2. The last Benefit blusher I purchased was Sugarbomb and I really loved it. I've been wanting to try this one for absolutely ages and I think I may treat myself to it soon!

3. I am in desperate need of some 'going out' shoe for when I go back to Liverpool.

4. I can't decide whether I prefer this top in white, coral, or black. At only £10 it's pretty cheap for Topshop and it would be first step into the current peplum trend!!

5. Always keen to expand my Essie collection!

6. I bought the Core Collection a while ago and I would love to try this this brush out!

7. I'm going into Leicester sometime this week and I won't leave until I've found a striped top like this one. I can see it looking nice with black jeans, a leather jacket, and my red dr martens.

summer songs

Even though Summer isn't over just yet, I though I would do a post that includes some of the songs that I've been loving and listening to so far.

Tiny Vessels - Death Cab For Cutie
Death Cab For Cutie are my favourite band and Tom and I listened to them a lot on our holiday. This song is one of my favourites by them.

Closing Time - Semisonic
When I was in Cuba the television in our room only had a few channels that were in our language and one of them showed the film Friends With Benefits every so often and this song is featured in it. It's so catchy!

The Man's Machine - Jamie T
I've always kinds of overlooked this song when listening to the album that it's from but I've really been enjoying it over the past few weeks. I saw Jamie T play in Birmingham a year or so ago and I would love to see him again.

Call Your Girlfriend - Erato
This cover of Robyn's song is just AMAZING! I have tried to convince Tom to try and learn it with some empty tubs of Clover but he pretty much refused.

Isabel - Frank Turner
I am absolutely gutted that I wasn't able to get tickets to see Frank Turner when he plays in Liverpool later this year, but at the time Tom was unsure as to whether he would be studying in Copenhagen or not so we decided to just wait and before we knew it they had sold out of tickets everywhere. Hopefully we'll be able to snag some last minute from somewhere.

Give these songs a listen, they're great!!!

holiday snaps

It's been about a month since I've posted on here and I can only apologise that this post contains even more photographs from my holiday in Cornwall!! I bought the disposable camera from B&M Bargains last minute and I didn't have much hope that the photo's would turn out that well but most of them did (despite a few of them featuring our thumbs!!).

I have actually just got back from a holiday with my family so I'll be writing about that soon. We got home on Friday morning and since then I've just been enjoying being back home and this glorious weather that we are currently experiencing!

Whilst I was on holiday I read Atonement by Ian McEwan and I think I shall watch the film adaptation of it tonight, despite finding Keira Knightly a bit irritating! I also read One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey and I also ordered it on DVD and I can't wait to watch it! I'm going to wait and watch it with Tom though when he get's back from his holiday. Our holiday's overlapped and I've not seen him for three weeks, he gets back on Thursday and I am beyond excited to see him!!

camping in cornwall

I've just returned from the most lovely holiday in Cornwall. Tom and I spent two weeks camping on Gwithian Farm, a site that we had visited the previous year with his family. Over the two weeks we were there we experienced a whole variety of different weather but there was always something fun to do. When it was sunny we visited the beach that was only a few minutes away,  we went on walks to try and spot the seals that lived nearby, and barbecued pretty much any food we could get our hands on. When it rained we curled up in our tents and read (I made my way through the Millennium Trilogy and I can't wait to start the last book) or we caught the bus to nearby villages and spent the day in cosy pubs drinking the local ales or in cafes enjoying cream teas. We were lucky enough to visit St Ives on a few different occasions and it definitely is one of my favourite places. One of our friends from University came down to visit us there and it turned out to be such a fun day.
I would highly recommend visiting the same site again as the facilities are great and the staff are so friendly, they even showed all the England matches in their barn! It's also only a few minutes away from a beach, an awesome cafe called Sunset Surf Cafe, and buses stop right outside of it. To top it all off, a pub is located directly opposite it. Perfect!

summer jam

The last time I wrote a post on here was nearly two months ago! I've been really busy with exams and such at University so I guess I've just not had the time. My last exam is tomorrow (roll on 4:30pm!!) and I thought I'd take a quick break from revision to write about what I got up to at the weekend.
On Saturday morning Tom and I got on a ridiculously early train to Leeds to go to Slam Dunk Festival. It was all worth it though as we had such an amazing day. Tom's friend very kindly let us stay at his house for the weekend and after we dropped our bags off there we had a few drinks and something to eat at Hyde Park. We arrived at the Uni just in time for me to go and see one of my favourite bands in the whole entire world, Say Anything. They were just brilliant and I cannot wait to hopefully see them again one day. The rest of the day consisted of grabbing pints of cider, seeing bands, and sitting outside when we could as the weather was just so nice. In the evening we saw Set Your Goals, Capdown, and Gallows. Gallows were just great. After the gig we made our way to another one of Tom's friends who is studying in Leeds and we spent the rest of the night in his flat playing Trivial Pursuit, drinking Kopparberg, and ordering pizza.
It was a great weekend and a perfect break from revising national cinema!

two years

Whilst I know two years isn't really very long, I've had the best last few years knowing Tom and knowing that he is mine. He sent me the most beautiful bouquet  of tulips and I opened the handmade card he'd sent to my house with strict instructions that is should only be opened on the 30th of March.
I'm missing him terribly, but he gets back in 10 days and I can't wait to see him.

bits and bobs

After having a fairly productive morning of handing an essay in and taking out books for another essay, I decided to have a wander into town. As you can see from the picture above, I treated myself to a few bits and bobs! I've been in need of a new foundation for a while and I finally settled on Clinique's Even Better Makeup. I then picked up the MUA Heaven and Earth eye palette from Superdrug, I've wanted it for quite a while! I'm not very experimental when it comes to eyeshadow so this palette contains the perfect everyday colours for me. Boots are currently running a 3 for 2 offer across loads of different brands and I chose the following things: Real Techniques Core Collection, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, and a Model's Own nail varnish in Utopia. The sunglasses are only £3.99 from H&M and I really do like them, I think I need a second opinion as to whether they really suit me though! I spent far too much money this morning but I felt like treating myself, also when I got home I ended up buying a Nars blush in Deep Throat!! I'm trying to convince myself not to feel too guilty about it as I bought it for about only £17!
Speaking of spending EVEN more money, on Thursday I managed to buy tickets for myself and my boyfriend to see Regina Spektor play at the Royal Albert Hall in London. How cool is that?!? I've been a big fan of her's for a while so I am beyond excited to finally see her live! I'm actually off to a gig tomorrow evening with my younger sister. Her and my dad are arriving in Liverpool at about lunchtime so we get to spend some time shopping together and I think we'll go out for dinner before the gig. We're going to see a couple of bands that I used to really like when I was about 15/16 so I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend and then I get to go home on Monday and see my cats, hooray!

instagram update #3

Nacho's from Barburrito, Wu-Tang t-shirt from Glastonbury, Chris (Simpson's Artist) replied to me!
Urbanears, Tom bought me doughnut back from Manchester, pi's
My friend came to visit me and we had a fun night out, so excited to see Say Anything, caramel macchiato
New necklace from Cutie Pie, pizza for only £1, my cat being all cute when I went home at the weekend
Fred Perry, essay writing, one of my favourite drinks
Gave into my Subway cravings, clutch I got for only £5 from a new vintage shop in Harborough, what I wore today

I've not done one of these instagram posts in over a month! The collection of photo's might look like I've had a rather dull month, mainly filled with food, but it's been really great. I go home in about a week for the Easter holidays and I really can't wait. I actually did go home at the weekend (it was lovely as always) and I had to say goodbye to my boyfriend for a month. He's studying in China over the next few weeks and I am going to miss him so very much. Just before I left we booked a two week camping holiday in Cornwall and I am so excited for it! We went to the same campsite last year and it's so lovely. St Ive's and Newquay are only bus rides away, it's ten minutes walk to a beach, and it's right opposite a pub that serves fantastic Cornish ales! How brilliant!
I probably won't post again until I'm at home as I have another essay to do this week, boo! Once I get home I have quite a few nice days planned with my friends, I'm sure they'll take my mind off missing Tom too much and also give me some nice things to blog about!

someone who makes me feel seasick

Tom got the pictures developed that we took last Wednesday. For a first attempt with a camera that neither of us know anything about, I think they turned out okay! I look quite squinty in most of them but I'll put that down to it being rather sunny!
In other news, today has been a nice day. I slept for ten hours last night, but when I woke up I think I could have stayed in a bed a bit longer! I only had one lecture today and it was about the modules that I can choose for my second year. So far I'm thinking of studying Media and Gender in the first semester and then either Hollywood Cinema or Documentary in the second one. Exciting stuff! I've not done much today apart from attend that lecture. Tom and I did get a Domino's pizza each for only £1 with the help of a student voucher, so that was pretty good. The rest of my evening will consist of washing my hair and maybe reverting back to my old side parting, drinking my last vanilla FRijj milkshake, and watching HIMYM.

Monday 5 March 2012

truck stop blues

Last Wednesday I made two new purchases! The print t-shirt was only £4.50 from British Red Cross and I think it will go with loads of items that I already own. For a while I've been wanting an over-sized camel coloured blazer but unfortunately I just can't find one anywhere, so I think this £10 blazer from Ryan Vintage will do the job in the meantime!

i love liverpoool

The weather was glorious on Wednesday so Tom and I decided to spend the afternoon down at the docks. For his birthday, Tom inherited a Canon t70 that hadn't been used in a while so we decided to buy a new roll of film and see if it still worked.

I love this part of Liverpool. Whenever Tom or I have shown our friends or family the docks they have always been very pleasantly surprised and I think they hadn't imaged that Liverpool has this lovely side to it. I couldn't be happier to be going to University in such a wonderful city.

a weekend in wales

On Friday Tom and I travelled down to a little village in North Wales to stay with his Nana for the weekend. It was so lovely! We not only got to enjoy spending time with her and his relatives that lived nearby but we also were treated to yummy home-cooked dinners (roast dinner I have missed you), an almost constant supply of tea and biscuits, and we went on lovely long walks as the weather was wonderful.
The first picture was taken in Llangollen, we went there on Saturday. We looked around the charity shops and unfortunately I didn't find anything but Tom found a denim Ralph Lauren shirt for just under £5! We had lunch in a little cafe before we went home to curl up on the sofa with a Chinese takeaway and Take Me Out. The rest of the photographs are from Sunday, we walked along a massive aqueduct which was actually quite scary! In the evening we left his Nana's feeling very happy and in my case, very full of roast dinner!
I think I've got another fun weekend in store as Tom has to go Manchester to sort out his Visa for his upcoming trip to China, so that means another trip to a city that I'm quite fond of! We found out today that Tom successfully gained a place to study in Copenhagen for the first semester of our second year. I am extremely happy and proud of him for doing so but I have felt a bit miserable this evening as I'm going to miss him so very much. I'm going to try and stop feeling glum now and make myself a cup of tea and watch How I Met Your Mother!

Sunday 12 February 2012

the cool air will put your hard heart away

Yesterday Tom and I decided against going into town and instead we took a long walk around Sefton Park. Despite it being absolutely freezing, it was really lovely nice thing to do in the afternoon. We saw loads of dogs and my favourite was a sausage dog called Barney who kept trying to waddle his way back to his owners car. We continued our lazy afternoon by cooking burgers that we'd bought from the local butchers (so yummy and so cheap!) and watching Little Nicky.
Today has been equally as lazy and Tom is on his way over and I will be cooking Shepherd's Pie for dinner. I think we'll probably watch Trainspotting with my flatmates later but one of them has bought The Peter Serafinowicz Show back with him and I don't think I'll be able to say no to Brian Butterfield!
